TransPort automates the migration process by developing and creating tools that incorporate compiler technology to intelligently parse, understand and generate the appropriate target language. This process of automation is used whenever possible, for example the translation of COBOL, SCOBOL, SQL, C, Enscribe and TAL are all fully automated by Transport. There are instances depending on the source and destination languages whereby our compiler tools cannot generate feasible code automatically. In these instances our tools are adapted to do as much of the work as possible, making the process of translation semi-automatic, for example a SCOBOL to Microsoft Visual Basic or C++ conversion. The remaining work in translation is usually completed by one of our qualified migration programmers.
